Executive summary

Service designed around dignity and belonging

Families were given household vouchers so they could choose what they needed most. A simple choice turned assistance into respect.

On 19 September 2026, the Rotary Club of Taichung Dawn, District 3462, joined nonprofit organizations, Zhongliao Elementary School, local government agencies, public health professionals, agricultural groups and community volunteers for a full day of service in rural Nantou County.

The afternoon community carnival brought practical services into an open, welcoming setting. Free haircuts, health education, local products, music, magic and student performances allowed service and ordinary conversation to happen side by side.

In the evening, students, older residents, vulnerable families, volunteers, public officials and Rotary members shared a Mid-Autumn dinner at the same tables. This removed the distance that can form between project organizers and the people a project is intended to serve.
